The newspaper The Atlantic noted that Eric Schmidt, Google's president, uses Britney Spears as an example, years ago, in his lectures, to show that although people have different cultures, they seek the same issues on the Internet.
"I do not think I'll dim the allure that the world is Britney Spears. I think this will continue", Schmidt said at the Newspaper Association of America in 2009.
That same year, he spoke at a lecture at the University Woodrow Wilson on International and Public Affairs: "The most common question I hear about Google is: 'Well, how different are the subjects wanted the rest of the world?' and I say, 'Sorry, but no difference. People are interested in Britney Spears in all countries'."
"People just do not communicate with words learning and education, they also like the same star. Let's do a test and see what other countries are also so obsessed with Britney Spears as the United States", Schmidt said at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York in 2010.
"Even people who are poor or not so much culture or who speak a different language than the Americans, it is surprising, but they want the exact same things ... beginning with Britney Spears", he said at the Forum of Ideas in Washington in 2010.
More recently, in March this year, Eric said the following in PalmSprings, California: "It appears that between one and two billion people who have never been connected will be connected to this world. Let us find the language and the things they care about. And they should be interested in Britney Spears, as we are."

Since its inception, Britney appears year after year in the list of celebrities, singers and women most searched Google.
