Just go to the lists of nominees for the Video Music Awards this year, and for the vast majority who were enthusiastic, it's hard to tell: MTV has not appointed in any of three different award categories.
Artists like Beyonce and Lady GaGa are present in most categories, with a video clip, two and even three. Other artists like Katy Perry, Rihanna and Ke$ha appear in only a few categories.
And for those who thought the production was the third reason for the exclusion, just look at the vote counts on various other video clips of lower output.
The U.S. awards take place on September 12. Now we can only hope that Britney is nominated at least in European or Japanese edition.
Already there is speculation that Britney will not attend the awards.
"Britney has not released anything in years! But next year, I have a hunch that it will be the year", said the singer's spokeswoman, BRITannica.
