Soon after the launch of the flagship Femme Fatale album, Hold It Against Me, the duo Bellamy Brothers country sought to TMZ for accusing Britney Spears of plagiarism by verse If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?, since in 1979 they released a song with the following verse: If I Said you Had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?
The complaint was not commented upon by Spears at the time. Weeks after giving several interviews the duo's music and speaking ill of the singer in the American press, producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin sued for defamation the Bellamy Brothers.
But according to court papers filed last week, Dr. Luke decided to cancel the action after the duo agreed to publicly admit that Britney's song was not a copy, saying: "The Bellamy Brothers apologize to Dr. Luke and Max Martin by public statements and any false impressions suggested by the statements on their website about Dr. Luke and Max Martin had copied the work of others."
