In addition to being honored for his contribution to pop culture over the past 13 years, Britney Spears will also receive the coveted Video Vanguard Award from MTV in this year's VMA.
The prize, also known as Lifetime Achievement Award is given only to the musicians who had a real impact on MTV, as well as the directors of most iconic music videos ever released.
Since 1984, MTV has already awarded about 30 artists and directors, some of them Madonna, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Guns N' Roses and U2.
