Justin Timberlake said in an interview with Vanity Fair that she has not spoken to Britney Spears since they broke up in 2002.
"I wish you the best - no need to say. But we do not talk for nine or ten years", said Timberlake.

He said the two started dating to have very similar life histories at the time. In 1993, Timberlake and Spears had together on the Disney show The Mickey Mouse Club. They met his girlfriend in 1999 and stayed about three years together.
"We were both the same birds nest - two children from a small town, doing the same thing. But when you become an adult, what did you do when a child loses meaning. (...) I just do not think we were normal, there was nothing normal in our lives. We spent too much time being the greatest things in the world for teens."
For Timberlake, the success of her generation of singers could not last long.
"It was incredible that we were so successful. And I tell everybody: Backstreet Boys, 'NSync, Britney [Spears], Christina [Aguilera]. At that time, we could literally say, 'Let's go to Bali' and catch a plane. We were little kids with big toys. Do the math - it would not last."
