MTV Special - "Me Against The Music" (2003)

It was a fight for power - or at least the meeting of two of the greatest divas of pop music of all time - when Britney Spears and Madonna have teamed up to Me Against The Music, single from the album In The Zone, 2003. The stars led the audience (and each other) through the video where flirting.

"Madonna is an icon of an older generation, and Britney, a younger generation. She was at the height of his career at the moment", Paul Hunter, director of the video, told MTV News. "So that was a sort of challenge to unite these two worlds. I wish this was a bit like a game of cat and mouse, some 'preliminary' between Britney and Madonna, something to incite the public. "

Some years ago, Britney revealed that the collaboration of Madonna came thanks to the Video Music Awards 2003 - you know, the one where Britney and Madonna kissed. "I was in the midst of rehearsals for the VMAs, and I showed her the song, and she said 'It is his first single (this album), right,'" recalled Spears. "I said 'Yes, I hope it is'. Then she said 'I really enjoyed it,' and I said 'Really? Well, I work on it with me? ", And she accepted."

Hunter said the video was filmed all while Madonna and Britney far. "I tried to play with this thing of opposites, for example, when Britney is Madonna's black and white", he said. "And then we see them dancing around a bed ... and you think they will rise one above the other and do something crazy."

However, Spears said anything crazy could happen between her and Madonna, it was just to play with people. "I never really see or touch it, just feel your presence", said Britney. "The song is basically about going to a nightclub, and let yourself go with the music and who is around you. This is my first collaboration and it is with Madonna herself, in person".
